Money saving tips for your small business includes negotiating better deals with providers or services

In the first part of this series we discussed steps you can take to trim the
fat off current regular bills that you pay for your small business. If you’re
not sure where to start, here is a list of providers or services you probably
utilize that just might cut you new deals and help you lower your monthly
costs:

Phone service. There is a vast world of phone services out
there, all offering special benefits or perks that can meet your changing
needs. If it’s time to switch, do it. Check out the competition and choose one
that can help your business grow.

Wireless/cellular service. Evaluate your past bills to see
if your current plan is serving your needs. Are you in need of more minutes? Are
you getting the best bang for your buck? If your contract is up, ask if you can
receive special credit for being a customer in good standing, or see if you
can receive the same benefits as new customers are getting.

Credit cards. Most credit card companies will work with you
if you ask them about lowering interest rates. If your credit and payment
histories are good, you will have room to negotiate.

Office rent. If you do have an office outside your home, you
may find that your landlord is willing to negotiate your current terms. He or
she may want something in return, like a longer lease or expanded space.

Insurance. Speak with your agent to review your policy. Call
other agencies to compare exact benefits to each other. You may find areas with
discrepancies, or find valuable benefits with a different company.

Shipping. With the shipping market as competitive as it is,
you might be surprised how you can save by changing companies. Compare rates and
services to see if this is an area worth exploring.

Utilities. Although you might not find much room for
negotiation here, you can change your office habits in order to cut costs. Make
sure you turn your computer and other office equipment off when not in use. You
can consult with your utility company for energy-saving tips, which will
translate into less money spent for your business.

It may all seem daunting, but taking the time to evaluate your current
expenses can open up possibilities for saving money, which will make it worth
your time.
